Report: Facebook’s Traffic Down In The U.S. And Canada
Facebook is creeping towards the 700 million user mark, but Inside Facebook reports
that Facebook’s U.S. and Canada based traffic and growth dropped in
June. This marks the second straight month of lower growth in these
areas for Facebook which is an unusual occurrence.
The United States lost nearly 6 million Facebook users (down to 149.4 million users) and Canada lost 1.52 million users (down to 16.6 million) according to the Inside Facebook Gold service. This marks the first time in the past year that Facebook actually lost users in the United States.
Even with dips in users and traffic from the USA and Canada, Facebook continued to grow globally with an overall increase of 11.8 users over May. Mexico, the other major North American country, actually led all countries in user growth increasing by 7.6% in June.
Traditionally Facebook’s growth comes from some of the countries with later Facebook adoption. It is still expecting to hit 700 million users in the next few months. These stats about the U.S. and Canada will be good to keep an eye on over the next few months to monitor growth.
